Tiny Trailer Stories archives the stories and lived experiences of people working to build community. It was created by Pink Poster Club (PPC), a civic engagement and activist group that uses posters, art, community events and protests to build awareness and oppose threats to democracy and freedom. This project documents the way ordinary people make change happen and what community means to them.
Get to know the project
Pink Poster Club will be hosting an installation throughout the duration of the Evanston Folk Festival. The small trailer will be outfitted with an Ipad and headset, with recording instructions and prompts in the interior of the trailer, and some fun vibes too. Attendees will be invited to look at prompts, and sign up to record their own three-minute stories about community and activism, and what it means to them. There will be a PPC volunteer outside to explain the project to the participants, so if you’re looking for more information just come by and see us at the trailer. Outside the trailer, community members can create their own pink posters (we’ll have paper, markers and painters tape) which they can then put up around the festival, or onto the trailer itself.
The Prompts!! (pick one)
Tell us a story that illustrates what community means to you — or just tell us, what does community mean to you?
What’s a memorable moment of your own involvement with community activism? Tell us about your first experience, a time you felt unsure, a time you felt empowered, a mishap, a success, a reckoning…
Is there a time you wish you had taken action… but didn’t? What happened? What would you have done differently?
What is one dream you have for the future of your community? What does your community look like when you close your eyes and imagine it?
How will the story be shared?
We will be sharing your stories on our instagram page, @pink.posterclub and on our YouTube channel, youtube.com/@PinkPosterClub. Please sign the information sheet, which will be inside the trailer, if you’d like us to send you your video!
